Top 10 Anti-Aging Foods

Hello, my beautiful readers! Today we are talking about anti-aging foods. Although it may sound daunting, aging gracefully is a privilege. We cannot stop time, but we can try our best to age in good health. One of the best places to start is by choosing what to eat.

It’s a fact that many parts of modern life speed up the signs of aging, so what is the best thing to do? Eat well! We’ve tried to put together a list of the top anti-aging foods that can support aging from the inside out!

The list of the top anti-aging foods

Avocado

Many people I know don’t like avocado due to its neutral taste. My husband was hesitant to try it, so I had to convince him by making a delicious banana avocado smoothie

So what is about avocado that is so healthy and stops aging? It’s packed with omega-3 fatty acids that help in the regulation of inflammation. As experts say, inflammation can largely contribute to aging! Omega-3s also increase collagen production that keeps our bones, hair, nails, and skin healthy!

Sprouts

I like them, but to tell you the truth I don’t consume them enough! After doing this research I am definitely convinced that I should have more on my plate!

Sprouts are rich in antioxidants due to their high content of L-ascorbic acid and polyphenols! They contain a wide variety of bioactive compounds and nutrients that prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes and cancer.

 Matcha

I have known about the incredible benefits of matcha for a long time. The first time I tried it was several years ago. My Japanese friend made a matcha cake for me. It was delicious! I remember asking her why do Japanese people look so young. She told me that matcha and green tea are very common in their everyday diet. It couldn’t be a coincidence -there must be a connection!

You can choose matcha tea or matcha powder and include it in your smoothies!

Matcha is rich in antioxidants and you get so many benefits from it, especially your brain: detoxification, focus and sustained energy….

Red bell pepper

To tell you the truth I didn’t know that red bell peppers were considered one of the top antiaging foods. Did you?

They contain a high concentration of Vitamin C, even more than oranges! Vitamin C makes collagen and we’ve already read about the anti-aging properties of collagen.

Broccoli

Broccoli is another food that many people I know don’t like, because of its smell when it’s cooked. However, this mighty food contains incredible substances that help the body prevent many diseases. It is rich in antioxidants and fiber. According to cosmetic dermatologists, one of these incredible substances in broccoli is sulfur: it helps our bodies produce glutathione, which is a super powerful antioxidant.

Berries

Who doesn’t love berries? Their sweet smell makes you want to eat plenty of them at once! I usually use them in my morning smoothies, and they really increase my energy levels! During the summer, in the place where I live there are enormous fields of blueberries owned by local farmers. You can actually go there, pick them up by yourself and buy them! They are my favorites!

So how can they help us with our aging? They contain polyphenol, which helps fight stress and free radicals.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes belong to anti-aging foods too. There isn’t anything better than growing your own tomatoes in your garden! We’ve actually had our own garden several years ago, and our tomatoes were the sweetest! Little did I know about their anti/aging benefits then!

According to nutritionists: ” Lycopene, a plant nutrient responsible for giving the red and pink pigment to foods such as tomatoes and watermelon, has been shown to suppress oxidative stress,”’

Eating tomatoes in the summer has its own perks. Lycopene in tomatoes also helps prevent UVA and UVB damage caused by Sun exposure!

Sweet potatoes

I have always used regular potatoes in cooking until I discovered sweet potatoes! Their taste is very similar to a pumpkin!

Just like the pumpkin and carrots, they are rich in carotenoids and beta carotene which are both turned into vitamin A in the liver! Vitamin A is known for its antioxidant properties as well as for helping our bodies regenerate tissue

Beets

I used to eat them a lot when I was a kid. My grandma used to make beet, carrot, and apple juice. It was a true delight!

I often use it in my smoothies too, especially during winter!

Beets are famous for nitric oxide which helps to improve blood flow and oxygen throughout the body. More oxygenation equals more youthful skin!

Beans

Although I don’t enjoy eating them, they are actually very healthy! They contain lots of fiber and protein which help prevent blood sugar spikes! Each of these blood sugar spikes causes a process known as glycation- it ages us internally and externally!
