Gray is considered to be one of the first signs of aging. I have noticed my first gray hair several months ago and I started panicking!

However, these days, as a result of the stressful lives we are living it is normal for younger individuals to face this problem. I have many girlfriends under 30 who have noticed their first gray hairs even in their 20s. This presents a real problem especially for those who have darker hairs, as the gray strands are more noticeable. One of the options is to start dying your hair, but this means that you’ll start applying all the harsh chemicals to your head.

If you want a healthier option, read on.

Sage is popular for its various health benefits such as strengthening the teeth and gums, soothing a sore throat, preventing inflammation, and treating depression.

It is also beneficial for the hair and skin as well. Since a long time ago, sage has been used for treating hair problems like baldness. It stimulates hair growth and darkens gray strands. Although not completely, it blends the gray strands with the natural color.

Sage & Apple Cider Vinegar Natural Gray Hair Dye

For optimal results, enrich your sage hair rinse with apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar has the ability to remove any residue build-up in the hair, restore the natural pH balance, and it also detangles hair and works as an amazing conditioner. You can find several types of sage, but garden sage works best for this purpose.

You will need:

  • Tea kettle
  • Cruet bottle
  • Funnel
  • Bowl
  • 2 cups of water
  • 1 handful of fresh sage leaves or 2 tbsp of dried sage
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar

Add Sage

If you use fresh sage, remove the stems and pull them to pieces in order to release their natural oils. Then, simply put them in a bowl.

Make the sage tea

Bring two cups of water to the boil then pour the boiling water over the herbs.

Steep

Steep for about 15-20 minutes and then let it cool.

Tip: If you want to soothe your sore throat, save some of the tea and add a little bit of honey.

Add vinegar

Strain the tea and add it to the vinegar. It is recommended to use a cruet bottle as it allows the easier application.

How to use the Natural Gray Hair Dye:

Use the natural gray hair dye after shampooing. You will notice that the vinegar has a strong smell, but it is a better option than the chemical dyes.

Repeat this procedure a few times weekly. In addition to darkening your hair, the sage rinse will also add shine to it!
